Yes — all of our wood vent covers arrive factory sanded and unfinished, which means you can stain, paint, or finish them to match your existing floors or trim exactly. We recommend taking a wood sample from your floor to your local paint or stain supplier to get a color match before applying any finish. Since our covers are available in 60+ wood species, you can also select a species that is naturally close to your flooring — oak for oak floors, maple for maple — which makes matching much easier.

All of our wood vent covers ship factory sanded and unfinished. This gives you complete control over the final color and finish so the cover blends seamlessly into your existing woodwork. You apply your own stain, paint, or sealant before installation.

We offer wood vent covers in more than 60 species, including popular choices like red oak, white oak, maple, cherry, walnut, hickory, pine, ash, and mahogany. If you are trying to match an exotic or less common species, contact us and we will let you know what we have available.

It depends on the product type. Surface mount and flush mount wood floor registers are specifically designed to be walked on and are built from solid hardwood to withstand regular foot traffic. Wall and ceiling wood vent covers are not designed for weight-bearing use. Always check the product listing to confirm whether a specific cover is rated for floor installation.

A surface mount register sits on top of the floor surface, dropping down into the duct opening. It is easy to install and works on any floor type. A flush mount register sits level with the floor, creating a seamless look. Flush mount registers are typically installed at the same time as new flooring and require a precise floor cutout. They come in two sub-types: with frame (the frame sits on the floor surface) and without frame (the cover is fully recessed into the floor).

Yes. Custom wood vent covers are available in any size and in any of our 60+ species. This is one of our most popular custom options, particularly for hardwood floor renovations and historic homes with odd duct dimensions. Red oak is our most popular choice for matching red oak floors, as it has the same grain pattern and accepts stain identically. If you want a slightly richer tone, white oak is also a strong match. We recommend ordering the same species as your floor and applying the same stain or finish for the closest possible match.
